SEAL of Honor HORNET Tonya Burrows Books
I have been in the mood for military romances lately, and I’ve been on the hunt for a really good one. I had some hopes that this one would be pretty good. It did have some things I liked about the book but mostly I just felt like it was kinda meh.So the thing I liked the best about the book was that the storyline did have some promise. I like the idea of a private security team doing hostage recovery. I liked that it was a new team so that it gave me the chance to get to know the difference characters at the same time as our hero Gabe got to know them.
I did have okay feelings about Gabe. He’s a stand up guy, feeling a little lost after being let go from the military after a serious injury to his leg. Figuring out how to change your life plans and adjust to his new role was never going to be easy but I thought he did a pretty good job throughout the book. Honestly the thing I judged him the most about was his taste in woman. Audrey.
Audrey is our heroine. And I hated her. Not at first mind you. Her brother is kidnapped, she wants to help find him. All totally understandable. And then I go off the rails. She was annoying from almost the start. She forces herself onto the team basically even knowing that her presence was going to make it harder for the team to get her brother back because they would have to focus on keeping her safe. She helps convince them to take her on by telling them she could shoot a gun, only she refuses to use it and doesn’t believe in violence. That’s right throughout the book she gets all huffy about wanting to just talk to the good old human trafficker and trust him to help her brother. Or to tell people about the situation, even though it makes her a target and puts everyone at risk. I mean she really is too stupid to live in several situations (the author even says at one point that she doesn’t want to be one of those girls who are too stupid to live). I couldn’t handle this girl. I really didn’t think the chemistry between them was good enough to get over how annoying she was to begin with. Overall I really wasn’t impressed and probably won’t be continuing on with the series.

SEAL of Honor HORNET Tonya Burrows Books Reviews
HORNET---Hostage Rescue and Negotiation Team---a team of 7 men, all with a specialty. Formed by a businessman, Tucker Quentin. The purpose of the team? Negotiate and rescue what would otherwise be dead people.....The team is comprised of
Gabe Bristow, former Navy SEAL, sidelined from his career by a car crash while on R&R; Travis Quinn, a former SEAL sidelined by the same car crash; Jean-Luc Cavalier, ex- CIA, Linguist; Marcus Deangleo, former FBI Negotiator; Eric "Harvard" Physic, ex-CIA, IT specialist; Ian Reinhart, explosive ordnance expert; Jesse Warrick, former Delta Force Medic.
Gabe Bristow, ex SEAL, is in charge of this misfit team. Their first job? rescue a wealthy businessman, Bryson Van Amee, from South American captors. Who are asking for ransom for him. Gabe has to get this team of men in shape to rescue Bryson, with little to no training in how to work as a team. The guys have no sense of military discipline, and are extremely non-responsive to authority. Gabe and Travis have to make these guys into a well-oiled team, and get them to have some type of semblance of respect for them.
Audrey was on the phone with her brother Bryson when he was kidnapped. Audrey is snooping around Bryson's house in Columbia when one of the team members stops her, and brings her to the safe house for questioning. Sparks fly between Audrey and Gabe....
The plot of the book is to rescue Bryson Van Amee, but it also introduces us to the team, and takes us on a journey of deceit and lies. The book melds the team, and starts them working together. There are several scenes that are quite poignant, as they show the respect that the team starts to have for both Travis and Gabe. The team members themselves have several quirks, that I would love to see exploited in the coming books.
I Loved everything about this book! Gabe and Quinn, both out of the SEALS because of injuries from a car accident, and the ragtag group of men they assemble for their new Rescue team. Every member of this group in a unique character unto himself - can't wait to get my hands on their stories! The rescue mission - to get to the kidnapped wealthy American businessman before the ransom is paid and the rebels kill him. And then there was Audrey, sister of the kidnap victim, off to Colombia to help rescue her brother. Loved she was a strong determined woman and a match for any Seal! Story sizzles with the sexual chemistry and tension between her and Gabe and a wonderful love story evolves around the action packed roller coaster ride to mission accomplished. Just when you think you have it all figured out WHAM another situation presents itself! Liked the interaction with the FBI negotiator and hoping he'll make a career change! I could not put this book down! I definitely want to go visit Costa Rica and swim with the dolphins! SEAL of Honor has already been given a spot on my KEEPER shelf. I am so glad I found Tonya Burrows and got in on the ground floor of this outstanding HORNET series! Highly recommend to anyone who loves romantic suspense!
